Looking Back, Moving Forward

So it's 2018, time to get back into the swing of things - slowly. No, I've not been back to the gym so far this year and yes, I'm still working my way through Christmas chocolate, but I'm very much over the whole new year, new me stuff, it's just not worth the pressure.
2017 ended brilliantly with a lovely Christmas and New Year spent with family & friends - delicious food, lots of laughs - especially on Christmas day playing heads-up: "Neil, what noise does a penguin make?" Although, the earlier part of 2017 had a couple of curve-balls to throw my way.
I had a difficult few months going through a spell of anxiety attacks that I struggled to understand and had to take some time off work to invest in getting myself through it. I thank my lucky stars everyday for the wonderful people in my life, who supported me so much while I was coming to terms with managing my anxiety.
Then there was the garden saga; in May last year Martyn and I paid a landscape gardener to completely re-do our back garden. We use the garden a lot and it's a fair size, so trying to keep on top of it around work and the Great British weather was a little difficult. We opted for a large patio area with steps up to a raised artificial lawn - super low maintenance. We paid for our materials up-front and a couple of weeks later work started. Unfortunately, it never got finished. We have half a garden - but basically got done over.
2017 was a great year by way of interior projects we managed to re-decorate our bedroom, the hallway and our living room, so the house feels so much more 'us' now. Over the next few years we would love a new kitchen, but it's just money we don't have at the moment so we'll drag as many years as we can out of what we've got.
I've set myself a few little goals for 2018, nothing too heavy, just some small changes that will hopefully make this year a great one.
So far so good...
Got my bullet journal on the go...
A new book started...
...And... We're going through a court claim to get our money back for the garden. All being well we'll be able to get someone in to finish everything off and actually have a nice new garden ready for the Summer this year. Wish us luck!
