15 Things I Did On My Week Off

Last week was my first cheeky week's holiday from work this year and I was sooooooo ready for it.
1. Had a blast at work's awards night.
I had a few bits and pieces in my wardrobe I was considering for last Saturday, but I STILL have some Christmas chub I've been too lazy and too greedy to shift. I'd seen a few dresses I liked the look of on Pretty Little Thing so decided some last minute options were needed.
I loved this look of this dress, but I certainly don't have that figure so I wasn't totally sold on being able to pull it off. To preserve some modesty I did have to wear it with a black slip dress underneath, but I really liked it.
2. Went out for Sunday Brunch.
Did someone say "Bake House?" I'm there! I very much scraped myself together and got out the door as quick as I could. The food is so nice and I love their vintage, quirky decor style.
3. Had a Sunday snuggle with my Mummy.
I'll never be too old to not need a snuggle with my Mum.
4. Celebrated 6 years with this one.
Time flies when you're having fun.

5. Created some wall art for my Nephew's nursery.
Little man is due to join us in March and I love that my sister asked me to design some prints for his nursery. The Dream Big and Twinkle Twinkle prints are available as free printables on my Downloads page.
6. Shopped for Baby Shower supplies.
With baby showers becoming more of the norm in the UK more and more stores are stocking decorations. I raided the bargain shops where there was loads of decorations for £1 a pack.

7. Got beat at the Valentine's game.
Martyn and I agreed we weren't doing Valentine's gifts and stuff...and then a mysterious box arrives on Tuesday morning, he always has to try and win. He got me these cute little his and hers cushions.
8. Inevitably fell on my ass at ice skating.
We're absolutely loving the latest series of dancing on ice and knew we wanted to go ice skating while we were off work. We totally thought we were Torvill and Dean stepping out onto the ice. A couple of laps around the rink and confidence picking up, next thing I'm looking at girls with their own skates thinking I want some too. Had a little browse on Amazon while dealing with much-needed hot choc.

9. Spent Christmas restaurant vouchers on a Nando's feast.
We just had to get our houmous and drizz fix after ice skating and for anyone who doesn't know that you can get it in the supermarkets... You're welcome.
10. Potty trained with Barbie dolls.
I spent the morning with my gorgeous Niece Darcie while my sister went for her growth scan. I spent all morning playing with Barbies and asking her to do a poo on the potty. It seems me going on at her worked by the graphic photographic proof my sister sent me later in the day. Honestly, you wouldn't think something so horrific could come from something this cute.

11. Built a breakfast bar.
Our kitchen layout is a U shape; half kitchen units and half dining space, but if we're honest the dining table just didn't get used all that much. We decided we would have a go a building a breakfast bar ourselves - I say "we decided," it was more like I did Martyn's head in enough that he gave in. Our kitchen is quite old so it's not worth spending good money on until we can afford a full renovation on it, but that means we've been able to experiment and adapt the space to suit us. We picked up a sheet of wood from the timber yard for £35 delivered and then ordered some wall brackets and support legs. Here's how it's looking so far, still needs the paint finishing off and I'm also on the search for some bar stools.

12. Had cake at Nannie's.
Little afternoon visit to Nannie's to wish my fabulous Great-Aunty Ros a Happy 70th Birthday. And, there's always cake at Nannie's house.
13. Finally watched the Black Panther movie.
Martyn and I have the Cineworld unlimited cards, which we definitely make the most of. We're well into all the Marvel stuff so we've been dying to see Black Panther. A few friends who also have the cards were going on Thursday so we tagged along. We we're thinking about going on Valentine's Day because we're not big on the Valentine's mush; I remember one year we went to watch The Lego Movie. I really enjoyed the film, favourite character definitely being Black Panther's sister Shuri with her hilarious one-liners and total bad-assness.
14. Went out for Chinese with friends on the start of Chinese New Year.
Our Kells arranged a get together to go out for a Chinese on Friday night; delicious food and great company, how better to spend a Friday night? I got to meet Kelly's friend Noel who was visiting from Bahrain. From what Kelly's told me it sounds like such an amazing place and I'd definitely love to see it one day.

15. Prepared for an awesome weekend.
This weekend I had day drinks in Liverpool for my bestie's birthday and then my little sister's baby shower. But, as for this week, it's back to work for me.
